It is our intention that the amount of video material available as part of this online archive will continue to grow, as former students of George Hurst come forward with any footage they may have.
There were certainly large VHS camcorders present at Canford Summer School from at least the mid-1990s, and the final decade of George’s life saw an abundance of smaller hand-held camcorders and other devices present in his classes, both with piano and with orchestra.
We invite former students from Canford/Sherborne Summer School, from masterclasses held elsewhere, and from the Royal Academy of Music, to submit any footage which includes practical demonstration or significant verbal explanation from George Hurst, however brief or insignificant it may seem to be.
As may be seen from the currently available videos in the archive, the material has been edited carefully to focus almost entirely on George — this remains our aim when preparing any new video footage for publication here.
Whilst we prefer digitised material, we also welcome any old VHS tapes that former students may have.
